Tyrfing (pronounced TEER-fing) is one of the holy relics known as the Regalia. It was wielded by the crusader Baldur when the Nine Crusaders struck down Emperor Sheol XIV. It goes by many names, but is most often referred to as the Holy Avenger.
The blade is a national treasure of the Kingdom of Grandévere, and hangs above the throne in Castle Brei. For centuries, the sword slept beside its master inside Baldur’s tomb, but it was removed from its resting place when calamity threatened the kingdom. Legend says it can only be wielded by a true child of Baldur. Despite this legend, it has been wielded by those not of Baldur’s holy bloodline, suggesting that it may be wielded by those who have the crusader’s blessing or by anyone who is as courageous and pure of heart as Baldur.
